Operations Associate

INS is seeking an Operations Associate to join our team. This fully remote position will manage the New Hire Training and Onboarding Portal for The INS Companies and assist the Operations Project Manager with tasks related to hiring and recruitment, onboarding, formatting, brand management, and other tasks as requested. The Operations Associate will additionally assist the Proposal Specialist with proposal responsibilities.

Proposal Associate

The Proposal Associate will be responsible for coordinating, tracking, writing, and delivering all requests for proposals (RFPs) issued by state regulatory agencies, on behalf of INS’s financial and market regulation divisions. This is a remote, full-time position that requires a work schedule of 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.

Market Regulation Examiner-in-Charge (EIC) Position

The Market Regulation Examiner-in-Charge (EIC) will ensure the successful completion of comprehensive and targeted Market Conduct Examinations in accordance with the procedures and processes developed by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ (NAIC) Market Regulation Handbook (MRH), the INS Companies' Policies, contracting states, and the federal government, as applicable.

I have been at INS for a few years as a Life/Health actuary and could not ask for a better place to work. My responsibilities include but are not limited to evaluating the reasonableness of proposed premium rates, performing actuarial services for financial examinations, providing insurance department training, analyzing the impact of legislation, and assisting in any other special projects requested by our regulatory clients. Since joining INS, I have expanded my industry knowledge and gained a better understanding of the unique and rapidly changing challenges our regulatory partners face. Each project encourages me to continue learning and apply my actuarial skillset in creative ways to solve critical issues. Each project also gives me satisfaction as it helps ensure policyholders are adequately protected. I joined the Life and Health Actuarial practice at INS in 2017. Since then, my primary responsibilities have been leading the actuarial involvement in financial examinations of life and health companies for numerous state insurance departments. I’ve found INS to be a place that values its employees’ professional and personal growth and encourages a level of work-life balance that is often not found at a consulting firm. I’ve been given the freedom to manage my projects as I feel as appropriate, but management and my co-workers are always available to provide support and advice when needed. The Life and Health actuaries meet online at least monthly and gather in person several times a year for professional development and social activities which helps maintain connections, as the office is fully remote. My move to INS over 6 years ago has had a positive impact on my career and personal life. I’ve had the opportunity to provide value to the financial examination teams and gain experience with different types of insurance products and projects. Even after 30 years in the insurance industry, I’m still growing as an actuary at INS.

I am currently a Life/Health actuary at INS Consultants, Inc. (INS) and have worked at INS for over ten years. I enjoy working at the Company, primarily because of the importance of the work we do, the quality of our staff, and the flexibility provided by a full-time remote environment. We have a dedicated team of professionals, who support the critically important work of our regulatory partners at each insurance department, which INS serves. Although INS is a totally remote Company, we are in constant communication with our colleagues, as well as with our regulatory partners. This contributes to our open environment, where everyone contributes, and at the same time, everyone learns, and everyone grows. I have been employed as a Chief Actuary, Vice President, Managing Actuary, etc. at a number of top companies in the insurance industry, but I can safely state that INS ranks among the best companies where I have ever worked.
